College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics, Al-Karkh University for Science delivered a lecture on seismic reading and its role in exploring oil reservoirs.

The lecture, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, included reviewing the role of seismic seams and structures in determining the location of oil and gas reservoirs and measuring the sedimentation time that caused the formation of the oil reservoir.

The lecture aimed at explaining the importance of seismic reading in the exploration of oil reservoirs, deposits and layers phenomena as well as benefiting from them in developing oil and gas fields.

The study concluded that detecting arrival time of earthquake images is useful in oil exploration and allocating optimal location of oil well to avoid worthless drilling and targeting oil reservoir.
