A faculty member in the College of Biotechnology, University of Al-Qadisiyah manufactured a 20-sample suction apparatus (BT Vacuum) to extract DNA from different tissues.

The device will win time to conduct extraction via reducing the steps by using the centrifuge as well as decreasing pollution besides reducing the costs of using (column tubes).

The device is working on the principle of vacuuming air inside pressure bottle which is connected to the filter tubes for extraction of DNA by plastic openings which prevent air to enter inside then operating suction device with low air pressure inside the cylinder to suck the liquid from the tubes with filter besides adding solutions without moving filter tubes, thus reducing manual interference in the experiment.

The device is consisted of plastic materials easy to sterilize, lightweight and cheap price, as it can be manufactured manually without needing to import any material.
