Three faculty members in the Middle Technical, Technology and Baghdad Universities obtained a joint patent on the conversion of saline water into potable water.

The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, included developing and manufacturing a new type of Nano-membrane via using Nano-tubes of multi-walled carbon (F-MWCNTS) in the supporting layer and (MCM-41) Nano-particles for purification of water.

The patent reviewed that the Nano-particle increases the efficiency by 69.7% in order to purify water and provide 43% energy in comparing to the non-Nano-material of the old membrane quality.
