A research team in the College of Science, University of Al-Mustansiriyah obtained a patent on synthesizing a TAN enzyme associated with nanoparticles of silicon oxide to be used in improving the anti-bacterial effect of the TAN enzyme of the Serratiamarcescens bacteria.

The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, reviewed that nanoparticles of silicon oxide were the best in improving the efficiency of the enzyme.

The patent included the gathering 14 isolates of the Serratiamarcescens of patients with septicemia, eliminating these isolates that demonstrated the ability to produce it and preparing nanoparticles of gold, platinum, oxides and silicon oxide in via laser dissolving method and electronic microscope.
