College of Nursing, University of Kirkuk held a symposium on epilepsy, its symptoms and treatment.

The symposium, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, included identifying epilepsy as a chronic neurological disorders affecting members of society at different ages as well as reviewing causes, types of disease and diagnosing methods besides there are 70% of the cases respond to treatment.

The symposium reviewed that the epilepsy source is unknown as the most common diseases which affects six of ten patients as well as the other type known as “secondary epilepsy” caused by brain injury due to loss of oxygen or brain infection such as meningitis or tumor.
