College of Agriculture, University of Misan organized a symposium on using of improved varieties rice to salinity with high productivity and good quality.

The symposium, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, included delivering a lecture on the importance of the plant as a green fertilizer and an alternative source of commercial nitrogen fertilizers and the possibility of using Azolla plant with rice cultivation in Iraq as well as cultivating the two crops in the Province of Misan.

The symposium highlighted the importance of cultivating rice, its production areas and the international and Iraqi varieties of rice and the role of salinity-tolerant varieties in increasing productivity.

The symposium recommended the need to provide chemical fertilizers to grow the rice, increase the irrigation share of the province and obtain approvals to expand the area of rice cultivation and the receipt the crop of rice by the silo of Amarah.
