College of Management and Economics, University of Al-Mustansiriyah held a symposium on the reality of agriculture and the problems of low water levels in Iraq.

The symposium, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, reviewed the lack of water resources, especially after the decline of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers water levels due to the low rainwater, decrease water discharges from the upstream countries, misuse of irrigation water and the deterioration of the agricultural reality in the country.

The symposium highlighted the proposed solutions to rationalize consumption, using modern irrigation methods to restore agriculture in Iraq and contributing to improve the Iraqi economy via developing agricultural reality and self-sufficiency of the basic crops.

The symposium recommended the need to guide postgraduates to conduct research and studies on the treatment of the water crisis and improve the agricultural reality, and contribute to the diversification of sources of income and non-completion on the single economy of oil.
