During a visit to Turkey and meeting the Turkish Higher Education Council, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Qusay Al-Suhail inked a cooperation agreement in the field of higher education.

Dr. Al-Suhail added that the agreement reviewed the important articles that contribute in activating government program of higher education, as well as expanding cultural exchange in the field of higher education with the Turkish side, especially the research fellowships, studies and joint supervision on university theses, joint research centers besides increasing training opportunities in higher education sectors between the two countries.

His Excellency reviewed that the agreement aimed at providing training opportunities for academics in the maintenance, preservation and restoration of manuscripts and increasing opportunities for cooperation and bilateral exchange between Turkish and Iraqi universities.

Dr. Al-Suhail also reviewed that the agreement will open the horizons of several joint studies and research programs with the Turkish side in various resources such as joint university degree, in the framework of human and scientific specialties as well as inaugurating of Arabic language centers in Turkey and Turkish Language Learning Centers in Iraq besides obtaining the accreditation of Turkish universities.

His Excellency continued by saying that the visit included inking the protocol of the agreement between the two countries for 2017 on forming joint committees between Baghdad and Ankara in order to activate and implement the terms of memorandums of understanding between the two countries in the framework of higher education and scientific research.
