A joint research team from Al-Mustansiriyah University, Baghdad University and Al Rasheed University College, Dr. Dalia Basil, Dr. Hoda Jaber, Dr. Zahra Qasim, Dr. Mayssa Ali conducted a joint study on the relation of cytomegalovirus infection and risk of atherogenic lipid profile in Iraqi aborted women. The joint team aimed at assessing the effect of cytomegalovirus infection and risk of atherogenic lipid 1 (MCP-1) profile in Iraqi aborted women. The joint team, which its study was published in the Journal of Systematic Reviews in theClassified Pharmacy Scopus, reviewed that atherosclerosis is a form of cardiovascular disease, which may occur due to chronic infections and damage caused by multiple causes, including infection with microorganisms such as CMV. The joint team said that 30 women were registered in the clinics for gynecology, who were suffering from abortion for the first time or from repeated abortion due to CMV infection collected from twenty blood samples from healthy women, serum (MCP-1), (IL-6) and (CMV-IgM) via using (ELISA) technique, as well as detecting the proportion of fats that include total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and low density lipoproteins (LDL) via the spectrophotometer. The joint team highlighted that there is a significant increase in cholesterol and a very large increase in triglycerides and LDL in patients with CMV, while there was no increase in HDL values. The joint team concluded that there is a relation of cytomegalovirus infection and risk of atherogenic lipid profile in Iraqi aborted women.
