College of Medicine, University of Al-Qadisiyah held an online workshop on implementing the hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin in treating patients with COVID-19 via Zoom. The online workshop highlighted the uses of the drugs and their side effects, as well as major side effects of the drugs, including prolong QT on surface ECG. The online workshop recommended that the two treatments should not be used in patients with inherited QT elongation or patients who suffer from diseases that cause this elongation at all, such as potassium deficiency.
