Al-Mustansiriyah University’s Master’s Dissertation: On Olanzapine Effect in Standard Antiemetic Therapy Induced by Chemotherapy

College of Pharmacy, University of Al-Mustansiriyah discussed a master dissertation on the effect of olanzapine, as well as standard antiemetic therapy induced by chemotherapy by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Ghufran Salah Ahmed.


The dissertation aimed at comparing the effectiveness of Olanzapine, as well as the standard treatment for vomiting and nausea caused by chemotherapy and completing response to treatment without vomiting, nausea, additional medications and how to reduce side effects after adding Olanzapine to the triple antiemetic drugs.


The dissertation highlighted aspects of working with a triple strategy to learn how to control vomiting and nausea in the late stage after giving chemotherapy, when the triple combination therapy for vomiting is not sufficient.

 

The dissertation concluded that there was an increase in both acute and late nausea in the first method compared to the olanzapine groups, as well as the absence of statistically significant differences between acute or delayed vomiting and total control of vomiting and an increase in side effects in the third method compared to the first and second groups as a result of increased fatigue and shortness of breath in the third group. compared to the first and second groups.
