The faculty member in the College of Medicine, University of Karbala, Dr. Ali Al-Janabi discovered seven fungal strains and isolation of bacteria that cause dermatophytosis and a number of human skin diseases.
Dr. Al-Janabi said that the discovery was recorded by the World Gene Bank's Website of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) which will contribute in finding a modern method of diagnosis of pathogens based on genetic components.
Dr. Al-Janabi added that the new fungal strains will give an idea on the pathogenesis Iraq by the WGB as well as establishing a library on germs in Iraq.
