College of Pharmacy, University of Al-Mustansiriyah discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the effective compounds and the effectiveness of inhibiting the growth of cancerous cells of the Iraqi meadowsweet plant by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Nour Mohsen Nasser. The thesis aimed at detecting the chemical compounds of the Iraqi meadowsweet plant and the effectiveness of the chemical compounds, including Genistein, Daidzen Formononetin, Biochanin and Naringenin against cancer cells. The thesis demonstrated the role of Isoflavones and Narginine via thin-layer chromatography compared to the standards after examination by reduced total reflection, high-performance liquid chromatography and verification by hydrogen and carbon nuclear magnetic resonance. The thesis concluded that all chemical compounds except Daidzein have a special activity against lung cancer cells after evaluating the effectiveness of the chemical compounds.
