A Board study in the College of Medicine, University of Al-Mustansiriyah reviewed bacteria and fungi that grow in the ears for putting on continually the mobile phone headsets. The study also reviewed types of microbes, which may grow in the human ear as a result of long time putting on mobile phone headsets. The study aimed at testing two groups, the first were30 who put on earphones for 8 hours per day and the second were 30 who did not wear any type of headphones as well as the two groups were submitted to clinical tests after taking samples of both headphones and the external ear to be analyzed in the laboratory. The study concluded that the earphones of mobile phones contained a significant amount of bacteria and fungi and using of headphones for long time lead to a change in the types of bacteria that grow in the external ear, as well as growing types of bacteria that are not normal in the external ears.
