Al-Mustansiriyah University: On Multiple Intelligence Systems

College of Basic Education, University of Al-Mustansiriyah organized a symposium on the multiple intelligence systems. The symposium, in which a number of faculty members and specialists participated, reviewed the concept of intelligence in general and the eight types of intelligence, such as linguistic intelligence, mathematical logic, spatial intelligence, motor intelligence, social intelligence, self-intelligence, rhythmic intelligence and natural intelligence. The symposium highlighted the most important methods of testing and evaluating human intelligence according to the world Gardner’s theory on intelligence which based on the idea that the intelligence that is measured by the traditional way can be determined only a certain area and the other way of measuring it according to the different types of intelligence as a psychological and biological capacity. The symposium recommended conducting tests of multiple intelligence in the classification of students, especially in primary school because of its great potential role in determining the mental abilities of the student and the impact on the progress in different walks of life.
