A research team in the College of Science, University of Al-Mustansiriyah, Dr. Mohamed Farag, Dr. Sahar Abdullah, Dr. Sawsan Hassan, Dr. Abdul-Jabbar Khalaf, Mrs. Ruaa Majed, Mr. Modeer Mubarak and the researcher, Mrs. Fatima Sobeih, obtained a patent on preparing new heterocyclic compounds derived from (phenylendiamine - O) to be used in inhibiting the formation of the biofilm of the bacterium stagnant Baumannii. The patent aimed at using heterocyclic compounds in the medical and pharmaceutical fields against bacterial contaminants that have the ability to adhesion to surfaces and using them to reduce the spread of bacterial infections in hospitals. The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, reviewed preparing a number of heterocyclic compounds derived from (phenylendiamine - O) and to conduct experiments and tests to demonstrate their effectiveness in inhibiting the formation of the biofilm of the isolated pathological stagnant bacterium from wounds in Iraqi hospitals. The patent concluded that the prepared compounds actually inhibit the biofilm formation of the bacterium stagnant Pomeranian.
