Iraqi Higher Education, UNAMI in Academic Cooperation

During a meeting with the representative of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Mrs. Suzanne Collis, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research reviewed developing horizons of joint cooperation between the two sides to enhance the rank of Iraqi universities among their counterparts in the countries of the region and the world, Director General of Studies, Planning and Follow-up, Dr. Ehab Naji Abbas said Dr. Abbas also reviewed Higher Education’s readiness on implementing joint programs with UNAMI in order to improve the education and human rights sector and strengthen the mechanisms of this culture among students via holding symposium, events and joint programs. Dr. Abbas added that the Ministry is keen on ensuring students having the right to have education, to provide the appropriate academic environment and to help them return to school. For her part, Mrs. Collis called on the Iraqi government institutions and Higher Education to take into their consideration the human conditions of students, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances in which the universities of some governorates are passing through.
