The College of Pharmacy, University of Karbala a master's thesis on the impact of genetic variation in a gene associated with drug response by the postgraduate student, Ms. Sarah Alaa Fadhil.
The thesis reviewed demonstrating the efficacy and safety of atorvastatin in patients with dyslipidemia or elevated blood lipid levels.
The thesis highlighted a potential impact of genetic variation on treatment safety, particularly concerning liver function, as well as differences in patient response to atorvastatin and the achievement of target cholesterol levels.
The thesis indicated differences in treatment response based on gender and genetic characteristics, highlighting the importance of genetic variation in determining patient benefit from drug therapy and its potential future use in supporting personalized drug therapy and improving the achievement of therapeutic goals in patients with dyslipidemia.
