College of Medicine, University of Al-Mustansiriyah organized a workshop on the international ranking of the universities. The workshop, in which a number of faculty members and members of the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance participated, reviewed the most important international ranking of the universities, including the World University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), ranking of the Times, ranking of QS and ranking of RUR as well as reviewing the standards and basics adopted by these rankings in dealing with universities from around the world. The workshop highlighted the criteria for the international ranking of the universities such as the quality of education, the number of the published studies and researches in journals of the impact factor, the rate of reference to these researches, studies and universities in the media and scientific journals, the rate of reference to researchers and the quotations of their researches production, scientific performance and academic websites. The workshop recommended identifying research priorities, activating research partnership programs, setting standards for academic excellence, implementing modern technology, focusing on international publishing, monitoring scientific researching websites for researchers and university employees.
