A joint research team in the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, College of Pharmacy, University of Al-Nahrain reviewed manufacturing a chemical compound that treats the complications caused of COVID-19 and the cytokine storm, President of the University, Dr. Ali Abdul Aziz Al-Shawi said. Dr. Al-Shawi added that the chemical compound may have the ability to treat the complications caused by the cytokine storm of infections and viruses, including COVID-19. For his part, the head of the medical research team and the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Haider Baha said that the Ministry of Health approved producing the treatment to be implemented in order to confront the cytokine storm and reduce the complications of infections and viruses. Dr. Baha added that the College’s keenness on developing a new treatment that treats Coronavirus, indicating the completion of the preclinical study in this aspect.
