During an online participation in the 64th Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Austria, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib said that Iraq is one of the first member states that ratify the Treaty on the Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and implementing its provisions represents the best way to achieve the peaceful use of nuclear energy. His Excellency added that Iraq is keen on participating in the upcoming treaty review conference to adopt the final document that includes all the basic principles for creating a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib reviewed that the Iraqi Government is keen on continuing and cooperating with the International Agency to redevelop its national capabilities in order to use atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
