The College of Engineering, University of Babylon discussed a Ph.D. dissertation on the impact of vibrations and nanoparticle-enhanced fins on phase-change thermal storage tanks by the postgraduate student, Mr. Hamza Maqsoud Mujbil.
The dissertation studied and analyzed the effect of mechanical vibrations and the use of nanoparticle-enhanced fins on the thermal performance of phase-change thermal storage tanks (PCMs), via evaluating heat transfer rates, the speed of thermal charging and discharging processes, and the overall thermal storage efficiency.
The dissertation recommended adopting optimal operational and design arrangements for vibrations and nanoparticle-enhanced fins due to their role in enhancing thermal conductivity and reducing melting and solidification times, as well as highlighting the importance of developing more efficient and effective thermal storage systems and their application in the fields of renewable energy and thermal engineering systems.
