Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies, University of Baghdad organized a symposium on the development of the sustainable architecture of Marshes.
The symposium, in which a number of faculty members , students and specialists participated, reviewed environmental systems with their social and cultural characteristics and the addressing the issues of poor quality of water for many reasons, including high salinity, pollution of various wastes and low quantities of water in Marshes, which requires water quality management and the managing the sustainable policies of Marshes to protect them as a unified ecosystem to preserve the diversity of life in it.
The symposium mentioned the used methods in the basic designs in constructing of houses of reed papyrus in the especial geographical characteristics areas such as mountain and deserts in the Chabaish marshes in Nasiriyah.
