A Ph.D. thesis was discussed in the College of Science, University of Basra on designing of a four-dimensional geomechanically model of oil reservoirs in the Rumaila field and its applications in future development plans by the postgraduate student, Mr. Youssef Muhammad Baqer. The thesis aimed at designing a four-dimensional geomechanically simulation model for the Rumaila oil field in order to improve the drilling process, analyze the effect of changing spatial pressure on the main stresses generated during the drilling process of oil wells and use it to develop, improve drilling and complete operations for future wells. The thesis recommended the necessity of conducting mechanical laboratory tests for rocks and elasticity coefficients, especially for the layers in which drilling problems occur to help giving information that can be used in the future in the field development plans.
