The College of Engineering, Diyala University discussed a master's thesis on the impact of earthquakes on the leakage and stability of a multi-layered earth dam by the postgraduate student, Mr. Ahmed Musleh Mahdi.
The thesis studied the hydromechanical and dynamic behavior of the Al-Adhaim earth dam in Diyala Governorate under seismic loads, using the finite element method with GeoStudio software.
The thesis included an evaluation of pore water pressure, effective stresses, displacements, and accelerations within the dam body, as well as studying of the potential for liquefaction in waterlogged areas.
