Dr. Abid Al-Sahib, Finland in Academic Cooperation

During a meeting with the Finnish Ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Vesa Häkkinen and his accompanying delegation, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib reviewed developing memorandum of understanding and means of forming agreements between the two sides in the field of vocational education. His Excellency said that Finland is one of the developed countries in the fields of education, especially in the medical fields and their technologies. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib added that Iraq is seeking for further cooperation in order to improve and develop the educational reality in Iraq. His Excellency continued by saying that Iraqi universities are keen on coordinating with their Finnish counterparts in the fields of publishing scientific researches and advanced medical laboratories, as well as holding joint scientific workshops and conferences. For his part, Mr. Häkkinen said that his country will support the projects of the Ministry, especially those related to the technical and vocational aspect in the universities and specialized institutes. Mr. Häkkinen expressed Finland’s keenness on formulating a number of educational agreements with Iraq in the coming period to develop bilateral relations between the two countries.
