During a meeting with the archaeological expert and the Head of the Italian archaeological mission to Iraq, Mr. Nicolo Marchetti and the General Commission for Antiquities and Heritage and the Deputy of the Ministry of Culture for Antiquities Affairs, Dr. Laith Majeed Hussein, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib reviewed developing of cooperation methods via expanding of archaeological operations and involving the Iraqi Universities via their specialized Colleges and Departments. His Excellency expressed the Universities ’readiness on cooperating with the Ministry of Culture and prospectors in the field of rehabilitating archaeological sites in Iraq, especially in Mosul, Babylon and Thi-Qar. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib called on studying a project to establish an archeology laboratory in Universities for the purposes of training, qualification and skills development. For his part, Mr. Marchetti reviewed the mechanisms of cooperation with the Universities of Baghdad, Al-Qadisiyah, Mosul and Kufa within the (BANUU) project, which has the concern of the European archaeological institutions as well as developing historical facilities in the world.
