Dr. Abid Al-Sahib, Netherlands in Academic Cooperation

During a meeting with the Dutch Ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Michael Rentinar and his accompanying delegation, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib reviewed the prospects for bilateral cooperation between Iraqi universities and institutions and their Dutch counterparts in the fields of water resources management, tourism, environment, agriculture, energy and human resources. His Excellency expressed the Iraqi Universities' readiness on coordinating and moving towards joint cooperation to meet the requirements of sustainable development and enhance knowledge in the fields of agriculture and water, as they are the backbone of life. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib called on the Dutch side to provide scholarships to Iraqi scholars at the level of pre and postgraduate studies. For his part, Mr. Rentinar confirmed that the cooperation between Iraq and the Netherlands can be achieved in different aspects, such as training courses, fellowships, joint research projects and mutual scientific visits. Mr. Rentinar said that Higher Education’s institutions are the most important centers of knowledge in Iraq. Mr. Rentinar reviewed the important Dutch universities have agreements with Iraqi institutions this connection can produce successful collaboration mechanisms and new opportunities in fields of academic education.
