During a visit the experts of the German University of Freiburg to Sawa Lake in Al-Muthanna Governorate, Directorate of Environment and Water, merged Ministry of Science and Technology reviewed that the German experts who carried out diving activities to explore the main sources feeding the lake twice a day and for three days to collect samples from the sources before mixing with the lake water and conducting some on-site analyzes and field survey of the wells surrounding the lake, Head of the Scientific and Technical Communication Unit for implementing of the Ramsar Convention, Dr. Maitham Abdul Allah Sultan said. Dr. Sultan added that the two sides agreed on providing support in conducting chemical analyzes of samples to be analyzed by the German University. It is worth mentioning that the visit also reviewed the possibility of joint cooperation to implement the project to sustain the natural resources of Sawa Lake for the purpose of managing these resources affecting lake feeding, assessing the impact of climate changes and the sustainability of the ecosystem and forming an economic development plan as well as developing educational concepts for residents of the areas surrounding the lake.
