Ministry of Higher
Education and Scientific Research announced on that Fifty-three Iraqi
universities and colleges have registered competitive positions in Times
Sustainable Development Ranking for 2023.
Higher Education demonstrated

reviewed an increase in the number of Iraqi universities and colleges that have
secured their scores in the Times Ranking for Sustainable Development to 53
universities after it was 44 in the previous edition, led by the University of
Basrah, which obtained the score (401-600) globally, University of Babylon which
obtained the score (601-800), University of Baghdad which obtained the score
(601-800), Al-Mustaqbal University College
which obtained the score (801-1000) and University of Kufa which obtained the
score (801-1000).
Higher Education highlighted
that the British Times Ranking for Sustainable Development assesses 1,591
educational institutions through the achievement of a number of United Nations
goals out of 17 goals, including quality of education, health and well-being,
partnerships, industry and innovation.
It is worth mentioning
that Iraqi universities and colleges obtained top scores for their increasing
competition in international rankings, including the Shanghai Global Ranking of
Academic Subjects, in which University of Baghdad was scored within the
chemical engineering major, (The Times) Ranking, in which eight universities was
scored, (QS) Ranking in which there are five universities and (Greenmetric) Ranking,
in which seventy-three Iraqi universities and colleges were scored and URA Ranking,
in which four Iraqi universities was scored, as well as the (Webometrics) Ranking,
which scored more than one hundred Iraqi universities and colleges.
