Directorate of Environment and Water, merged Ministry of Science and Technology delivered a lecture on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and Global Warming, Head of the Ministerial Committee in charge of testing greenhouse gases, Dr. Basem Mohamed Hashim said. Dr. Hashim added that the lecture the addressed the basic concepts of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change, the goal of its establishment, the role of the Kyoto Protocol to the Convention and its most important mechanisms for adaptation and mitigation of climate change. Dr. Hashim continued by saying that the lecture reviewed the role of Iraq in the field of climate change via national plans and policies to help the international community to contribute in reducing the impact of climate changes and its repercussions as well as forming objectives the Ministerial Committee to calculate greenhouse gases to build a solid human base for calculating these gases to motivate researchers to present research projects in the field of climate change and involve the Ministry’s formations in implementing national projects and plans based on calculation of greenhouse gases from various sources.
