Kirkuk University’s Ph.D. Dissertation on Elastase Enzyme & Biochemical Variables in Diabetic Patients The College of Science, Kirkuk University discussed a Ph.D. dissertation on the elastase enzyme and some biochemical variables in patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes in Kirkuk Governorate by the postgraduate student, Ms. Jahan Jalil Mohammed. The dissertation aimed at evaluating the pancreatic elastase enzyme (ELA1) and several biochemical markers associated with blood glucose control and pancreatic function in patients with type 2 diabetes, particularly those with uncontrolled diabetes and pancreatitis, and to compare these with healthy individuals. The dissertation concluded that uncontrolled type 2 diabetes, especially when accompanied by pancreatitis, is associated with multiple disorders, including impaired blood glucose control and impaired endocrine and exocrine pancreatic function. The dissertation also highlighted that reduced elastase activity is associated with the duration of diabetes, poor glycemic control, and some complications.
