A joint research team in the Technical Institute-Babylon, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University obtained a patent on inventing a "smart hybrid controller for the electric wheelchair" via adopting the user's head curve and voice commands via using integrated system technologies. The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, aimed at helping quadriplegic patients and some disabilities cases that the patients lose controlling the upper and lower limbs and unable to use the traditional electric wheelchairs.
