A joint research team in the College of Science, Al-Mustansiriyah University obtained a patent on preparing nanoparticles of titanium oxide via using banana peels extract and to investigate its antibacterial and insecticide effectiveness. The patent aimed at using banana peels in preparing the nanoparticles of titanium oxide as a fast, simple and environmentally friendly as well as implementing the material as an antibacterial and insecticide. The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, reviewed using a liquid extract of banana peels, its ability to inhibit the growth of many types of bacteria that cause human diseases and the effectiveness of its use in the field of biological control as an insecticide.
