College of Medicine, Al-Nahrain University held a symposium on the inflation thyroid gland and the lack of its function.
The symposium, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, aimed at identifying thyroid gland and its role in metabolism, reasons behind symptoms of hypothyroidism, treatment and detecting the hypothyroidism according to the hormonal bases tests.
The symposium concluded that the lack of thyroid activity will cause imbalance in the production of hormones of the demolition and construction via pushing all the tissues in the body and the manufacture of proteins by increasing the amount of oxygen burned by cells.
The symposium recommended the need to raise awareness on diagnosis of thyroid diseases especially for children and pregnant women, increasing specialized examination centers, holding symposiums and call for establishing the Iraqi Association of Thyroid Gland.
