A master's dissertation was discussed in the College of Science, University of Anbar on preparing of gold/silver nanoparticles using onion residues and studying the effect of its compounds with some antibiotics on biological activity by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Nibras Youssef. The dissertation aimed at preparing gold and silver nano-particles via using the biological method with plant extracts, as well as preparing nano-particles for their mixture at a certain ratio for each besides the nano-particles were diagnosed using modern and advanced diagnostic techniques. The dissertation demonstrated the effectiveness of the prepared particles in inhibiting the growth of four types of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and pneumococcus and their synergistic effects with a group of antibiotics, which showed promising results for their use in the treatment of pathogens.
