Babylon University: On Hyaluronic Acid & Mucous Membranes Adhesion

The faculty member in the College of Medicine, University of Babylon, Dr. Ahmed Maan conducted a study on the effect of hyaluronic acid on the occurrence of adhesion of mucous membranes. The study reviewed the effect of hyaluronic acid on the occurrence of adhesion of mucous membranes, infection, edema and adenoids after endoscopic operation and paranasal sinuses in 23 patients in 15-55 ages that were under the surgery by the endoscope. The study concluded that the use of topical hyaluronic acid was effective "in reducing the occurrence of adenoids, but it has no significant effect in reducing the occurrence of adhesion of mucous membranes, edema and infection.
