Assistant Director-General for Education at UNESCO, Ms. Stefania Giannini said that the UNESCO launched the Global Skills Academy on the occasion of the International Skills Day for Youth to enhance employment opportunities for one million young people due to the economic recession. Ms. Giannini added that the crisis of the world is going through as a result of the Corona epidemic which highlights the urgent need to accelerate the transition to more inclusive, sustainable and resilient economies by providing young people with appropriate skills. Ms. Giannini continued by saying that the need to harness major investments in education, training and expand the scope of increasing partnerships with employers to decrease the gap between demand for skills on the one hand and meet the needs of the labor market on the other. Ms. Giannini highlighted that the contributions made by the founding partners such as, Coursera Company that summarized its initiative to revitalize the workforce and re-refine the skills of workers, Dior Company initiated an educational program to sharpen leadership skills, Huawei Company pushed towards the launch of the technology program for all, and that Visto Company took the lead in providing a package One of the e-learning and wastewater treatment models, IBM represented its initiative to provide free access of training platforms in the fields of emerging technologies, Microsoft Company offered free e-courses, Orange Company allowed free access via e-courses in Africa and the Middle East and BEX Company contributed via launching of a platform for assessing and developing digital skills.
