The College of Education, Samarra University discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the phenotypic and genetic variations of the weevil in different locations, along with an analysis of extracts of its cocoon components on Staphylococcus aureus bacteria by the postgraduate student, Ms. Baidaa Hussein Ali.
The thesis reviewed the phenotypic and molecular characteristics of the weevil that produces the cocoons of the weevil, as well as collecting weevil cocoons for extracts used in biological and chemical studies.
The thesis confirmed the registration of 14 isolates of the Larinus hedenborgi species for the first time globally in the NCBI GenBank database.
The thesis demonstrated the identification of phenotypic variations among its populations across three different regions of northern Iraq.
