His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi participated in the launching of the National Quran Day activities, which run from January 17th to 22nd.


Dr. Al-Aboudi emphasized that everyone, especially universities, has a responsibility to be a constant pillar in the equation of awareness based on established principles and an integral part of the identity of belonging to the Holy Quran.



His Excellency stressed that universities must contribute, through their academic and scientific presence, to protect society and its future generations and preserve the legacy of its history, culture, present and future.


Dr. Al-Aboudi added that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research initiated two and a half years ago, a special channel for accepting students who have memorized the Holy Quran into universities and reducing tuition fees for this group in various scientific and humanities specialities.


His Excellency reviewed that this initiative aims at elevating the status of the Holy Quran and reinforcing the Iraqi national position in establishing a culture of moderation and confronting incitement to violence and hatred in the world.

It is significant to mention that the ceremony was held at University of Baghdad and attended by the Prime Minister, representatives of State institutions and the presidents and councils of Iraqi universities.
