Diyala University’s Master’s Dissertation: On Effect of Seismic Load on Slab Piles Under Dam

College of Engineering, Diyala University discussed a master dissertation on the effect of seismic load on slab piles under the dam. by the postgraduate student, Ms. Balqis Murtadha Ahmed.

The dissertation aimed at conducting a laboratory study to determine the effect of earthquakes on the use of slab piles under concrete dams.

The dissertation demonstrated the use of a concrete dam model with dimensions of length = 49 cm, width = 15 cm, height = 20 cm, with slab piles of length = 15 cm, in different locations under the concrete dam and on sandy soil and exposed to different types of earthquakes.

The dissertation reviewed a decrease in pore water pressure in the case of using slab piles at the bottom of the front and back of the dam, while in the case of using slab piles at the bottom of the front of the dam, the pore water pressure decreases.
