The College of Science, Diyala University discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured trioxide semiconductor thin films for gas sensor applications by the postgraduate student, Mr. Karrar Saad Mohammed.
The thesis reviewed studying the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured thin films based on dioxide and trioxide metal oxides and analyze their sensitization behavior to gases, including NO₂, H₂S, NH₃, and some volatile organic compounds, as well as improving performance through modification of the crystal structure, temperature, and the presence of nickel and copper impurities.
The thesis highlighted that the developed films possess high sensitivity, low detection limits, fast response times, long-term stability, and excellent selectivity, making them suitable for environmental monitoring and air quality testing applications.
