A joint research team in the College of Veterinary Medicine and College of Agriculture, University of Diyala, Dr. Amer Khazaal Saleh and Dr. Mahdi Saleh Jassim obtained a patent on using of injection of hatching eggs with acetic acid to increase the production efficiency of broiler chicks. The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, reviewed a clear superiority in the percentage of hatched chicks and the absence of apparent deformities on the chicks, as well as a low percentage of mortality. The patent concluded that the process of coupling the technique of egg injection with feeding the acetic acid solution to broiler embryos during the incubation period improved the hatching rate, quality characteristics, health of the hatched chicks and the productive performance of broilers.
