During a joint press conference with the Governor of Holy Karbala, Mr. Nassif Jassem Al-Khattabi and the President of the University of Karbala, Dr. Bassem Khalil Al-Seiedi, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib inaugurated the laboratories of the College of Engineering and a number of projects to rehabilitate the university environment and green spaces at the University of Karbala. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib said that universities are one of the most important stations and windows for important development in societies. His Excellency reviewed the importance of strengthening the university environment with the requirements it scientific needs, laboratory and infrastructure. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib highlighted that the current health and economic impacts and challenges were not easy, but they did not prevent educational institutions from keeping pace with the world in maintaining an upward trajectory in the fields of higher education and enabling its institutions to advance infrastructure and appropriate adaptation to change and achieve goals. His Excellency added that the policy of Higher Education in Iraq takes into account the development requirements according to the needs of the State’s institutions and in light of the priorities imposed by the need for different specialties and the qualification of specialized scientific staff. For his part, Mr. Al-Khattabi appreciated the efforts and the continuous cooperation of Higher Education’s institutions in supporting the province, upgrading its scientific and educational reality and providing important specialized consultations, as well as describing the visit of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to the province as important and supportive for the educational movement in Karbala. For his part, Dr. Al-Seiedi expressed the University’s keenness on providing educational services and developing its spaces in a way that enhances the function and objectives of the academic institution.
