During a meeting with the Council of the University of Karbala, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib stressed on that comprehensive development requires a continuous approach to scientific progress and sustainable use of modern technologies and the results of scientific researches. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib reviewed that the Ministry and its universities are making exerted efforts to improve the performance of their institutions, develop academic programs and improve the university education system according to the goals indicated of Higher Education’s policy and in light of what achieves and serves the aspirations of Iraqi society. His Excellency added that Iraqi universities are keen on improving their institutional performance and formulating a positive impact in the qualitative spaces for outputs. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib also reviewed that the mentioned trend pushed towards designing programs that include developing planning and organizing processes according to standards, criteria and scientific evaluation indicators. His Excellency demonstrated that the quality of the graduates represent an important goal and a basic foundation for universities at the competitive level, which requires the provision and observance of all high-level organizational requirements to obtain competitive positions in international ranking. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib renewed calling on the independency of universities and the supporting of their councils to make academic performance more effective, provide a scientific environment for qualitative and quantitative assessment and allow institutions to raise their educational level, develop their knowledge aspects and strengthen their competitive capabilities.
