During a meeting with the Turkish ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Fatih Yildiz, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib reviewed the project of establishing the Turkish-Iraqi University and scholarships for Iraqi students. His Excellency said that the two sides highlight the scientific specializations that Iraqi students wish to submit via scholarships and fellowships offered by the Turkey according to the priority of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib added that the two sides emphasize the need to strengthen cooperation in the field of higher education via increasing the number of Turkish scholarships that sent by the Iraqi Government to Turkish side. His Excellency expressed the Ministry’s keenness on overcoming the obstacles that the Iraqi scholars face in Turkish Universities and facilitating their residency procedures. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib continued by saying that the two sides agreed on the importance of mutual recognition of Universities in both countries according to the approved contexts in the certificate equivalency procedures. For his part, Mr. Yildiz expressed his country's support and readiness to provide all possible cooperation that would develop higher education and academic institutions in Iraq. Mr. Yildiz delivered a message from the Head of the Turkish Higher Education Commission and the Turkish Minister of Science and Technology to His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib to open horizons for scientific cooperation, joint exchange of professors, hold scientific workshops and exchange of academic experiences.
