During a meeting with the Canadian Ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Paul Gibbard His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Qusay Al-Suhail reviewed developing the academic cooperation and inking agreements between the universities of the two countries.
His Excellency said that Iraq is keen on strengthening relations with developed countries in the scientific fields, especially information technology via joint training programs between Iraqi universities and their Canadian counterparts.
Dr. Al-Suhail also reviewed the need to develop the bilateral cooperation through inking agreements and memorandums of understanding to develop training and researches programs, exchange professor visit and support English language Centers in Iraq.
His Excellency granted the Canadian side fellowships in the fields of archeology and Arabic Language as well as other human sciences.
For his part, Mr. Gibbard expressed his country's readiness on providing scholarships for Iraqi students to obtain Ph.D. degree in scientific specialties that Iraq needs besides research fellowships for faculty members.
