The faculty member in the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnologies of Graduate Studies, University of Baghdad, Dr. Essam Fadhil Alwan obtained a patent on producing and purifying of antibiotic from local bacterial isolation. The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, aimed at using local isolation of the 37-polyangiumcellulsum of fruit-forming bacteria to produce and purify compounds against the growth of pathogens via altering the components of the extract of cactus-yeast to obtain an appropriate seed environment to produce the highest rates of antibiotics. The patent reviewed isolating some strains of cellulose which analyzes the Pol cellulosum from soils as well as the cell wall of Candida albicans indicates that it may be one of the mechanisms in which the antibiotic works.
