University of Al-Mustansiriyah and merged Ministry of Science and Technology conducted a joint study on the optimum UV exposure time in Baghdad. The study reviewed the number of times exposing to ultraviolet rays that cause damage to the skin, the appropriate time of exposing to sunlight that is necessary to produce vitamin (D) by measuring the appropriate annual and seasonal time in the City of Baghdad. The study based on the Fitzpatrick classification, assuming natural ozone conditions throughout the year and using UV data received from the French Solar Radiation Data website (SODA) to measure the appropriate annual and seasonal timing of sun exposure in Baghdad for the period from 1/1/2015 to 31 / 12/2017. The study highlighted the best time for exposing to the sun without damage to the skin is for 16 minutes in the winter, 6 minutes in the spring, 5 minutes in the summer and 9 minutes in the fall, while the exposure time to the sun that causes skin damage is 80 minutes in the winter, 32 minutes in the spring, 22 minutes in the summer and 46 minutes in the fall.
