College of Science, University of Kirkuk discussed a master dissertation on the engineering geology of gypsum rocks in the exposed opening formation in the northwestern part of Kirkuk Governorate by the postgraduate student, Mr. Abdul Wahab Abdul Wahid.
The dissertation aimed to determining the suitability of these rocks for various uses via analyzing their mineral and textural content.
The dissertation recommended conducting broader studies of gypsum exposures in Kirkuk, focusing on surface engineering properties and conducting additional mechanical tests that require specialized equipment, such as plasticity modulus testing and using advanced chemical analysis techniques such as SEM and XRF to understand the relation.
